Police Confirms Harvest Of Mysterious Deaths In Kogi

The Kogi State Police command on Tuesday confirmed the mysterious deaths that happened in Nagazi, in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

It was rumoured as reported by some local online publications  on Monday evening that nine persons died mysteriously in Adavi Local Government.

According to the press statement on Tuesday by the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, William Ovye Aya confirmed that seven family members died mysteriously, but the Police was yet to ascertain the cause of their deaths.

He pointed out in the release that five died instantly, while others were rushed to the Obangede general hospital where two of the family were also confirmed dead.

Aya, however, said the Police is currently investigating the cause of the deaths, adding that, all the dead bodies have been deposited at the morgue of Federal Medical Center, (FMC) Lokoja.

Family source on Tuesday, told journalists that the mysterious deaths could be traced to spiritual attack.

According to a family sources, the father of the deceased victims has been known to be a prominent herbalist in the area.

”The father is a strong popular herbalist in the area. From what we gathered, he was doing incantation before things backfired. What happened has nothing to do with food poisoning. It is spiritual” the family source said.

Recalled that in August, 2022, it was reported that, five persons loss their lives after eating a cassava flour meal at their family house in Usugnwe-Okaito, Okehi Local government area of Kogi State.

Our correspondent gathered that another incident happened at the weekend in Mopa-Muro Local Government Area of Kogi state where four family members were reported to have died after allegedly eating cassava flour.
