Police Inspector shoots colleague dead in Kano

A Police Inspector identified as Ya’u Yakubu has reportedly shot his colleague dead at Warawa Divisional Police Headquarters in Kano State.

The deceased Police officer, identified as Sergeant Basharu Alhassan Yakubu, was shot, following a misunderstanding that ensued between them at the division.

While confirming the incident, the spokesman of the Kano State Police Command, Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the deceased was rushed to Wudil General Hospital where he was confirmed dead by doctors.

Kiyawa added that the inspector was immediately arrested.

He said during preliminary investigations, that the inspector claim that he didn’t even know how he shot his colleague and could remember that the deceased was laughing at him, suggesting that he was out of his senses while committing the act.

He added that the suspect, who is presently at the State CID, will be subjected to a medical test, to ascertain his mental fitness, as directed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Sama’ila Dikko.
