By Daniel Edu

Nigerian singer Mercy Isoyip, popularly known as Descushiel, has publicly apologized to Nigerians after a video of her incorrectly reciting the National Anthem at an event in Imo State went viral. The singer, dressed in a police uniform, led the recitation of the anthem at the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers in Owerri, attended by senior police and military officials, including Acting Inspector-General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun and Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State. The video, which aired live, showed Descushiel making errors in the anthem’s lyrics, prompting criticism and online trolling. In response, she posted a video on her Instagram page, expressing her sincere apologies and pledging to be more careful in the future to avoid such incidents. She ended her message with, “God bless the Nigeria Police Force. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
