The Ondo state police command has arrested three suspected fraudsters including Kayode Ajayi popularly known as ‘Ekun’ in Akure for alleged kidnapping of a female student of the Adeyemi College, Ondo, Miss Ayomide Ogunsuyi.
Two of the suspects, Olumide Faleye and Mrs Bola Ojo, were apprehended by the police after they hypnotized and abducted the student who boarded their vehicle to Ondo town from Isikan Market in Akure.
Parading the suspects, the Commissioner of Police in the state Mr Gbenga Adeyanju, represented by the command’s spokesman, Mr Femi Joseph, said the abduction of Miss Ogunsuyi was reported to the police by good Samaritans who noticed antics of the suspected kidnappers that pretended like commercial drivers.
The police boss said Kayode Ajayi a.k.a ‘Ekun’ had been implicated by the two suspects to be their gang leader and vowed that they would be charged to court for advanced free fraud and kidnapping.
The Police in Ondo state at the weekend rescued an undergraduate female, Ayomide Ogunsuyi, from the hands of some suspected kidnappers who had been terrorizing the residents of the state and its environs.
Miss Ogunsuyi was abducted by a three gang-man kidnap syndicate at the Isikan roard after boarding a car while on her way to school.
According to him, the Police Patrol Team from Akure Command swung into action and trailed the car down to the High School area in Akure.
He also revealed that the two of the suspects, Olumide Faleye and Bola Ojo, were later nabbed by the police patrol team after a hot chase.
Adeyanju said, “Surveillance patrol team of Akure Area Command were Patrolling Ondo road when a good Samaritan alerted the officers that there was a lady going to Ondo town, who boarded a car and instead of the driver going to Ondo, made a U-turn and headed to Akure metropolis”.
“They described the vehicle and the police started following the vehicle which was later trailed to the High School area where the officers had opportunity to overtake and blocked them. The driver whose name was later given as “Cherubim” jumped out of the car and ran away while the remaining three occupants of the vehicle were immediately arrested”.
He said, “the young girl Ayomide Ogunsuyi age 23 who looked sedated at that time later told police that she was on her way to Ondo town after boarding the vehicle (kidnappers car) at the Isinkan area”.
Adeyanju said, “police immediately arrested the two suspects who were later identified as Olumide Faleye and Bola Ojo to the station for an offence of kidnapping.
Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to be working for one Kayode Ajayi a.k.a ‘Ekun’ and they later said they were fraudsters and not killers”.
“But their story sound incredible, because the young lady, a student of Adeyemi College of Education Ondo, does not look wealthy enough to be defrauded” the commissioner said.
In an interview, one of the suspects, Ekun who denied the allegation, adding that he never involved in kidnapping in his life but he is a repentant fraudster.
