Popular Musician Portable Arrested by Lagos State Police Command Over Unpaid Debt for G-Wagon Purchase

By Milcah Tanimu

Lagos, Nigeria – The Lagos State Police Command confirmed on Tuesday the arrest of the well-known musician, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, for allegedly defaulting on payments for a G-Wagon he purchased from a car dealer in the state.

According to reports from PUNCH Metro, Portable, during the acquisition of the vehicle valued at N27 million, paid only N13 million and failed to settle the remaining N14 million balance.

It was gathered that whenever contacted by the car dealer regarding the outstanding payment, Portable allegedly claimed that the vehicle was faulty.

Efforts to resolve the matter amicably reportedly proved futile, prompting the car dealer to escalate the issue to the police. Consequently, law enforcement officers assigned to investigate the case apprehended Portable on Tuesday.

Confirming the arrest, Benjamin Hundeyin, the State Police Public Relations Officer, stated, “Yes, Portable has been arrested. He bought a G-Wagon for N27 million, paid N13 million and refused to pay the rest, claiming the vehicle was faulty. We arrested him today.”
