Priyanka Chopra Jonas has responded to speculation about her action scenes in her upcoming Prime Video film The Bluff, clarifying that she did not perform several of the movie’s more dangerous stunts.

Speaking to Variety on the red carpet, the actress explained that certain high-risk sequences were handled by her stunt double.

“There were a couple of shots for which I had to lean on my stunt double. She had to do those three or four dangerous shots, like face going into glass and stuff like that,” Chopra said.

She added that the decision was not about proving anything. “I didn’t say that; they wouldn’t let me. I’m not a hero. I go to work to do my job. I don’t want anyone to get hurt, including myself.”

Safety First on Set

Chopra emphasized that safety protocols guided who performed specific stunts. While she took part in physically demanding scenes deemed safe, she left the most hazardous moments to professionals trained for them.

“This is a dramatic movie; it requires my face in the camera when stuff is happening. That’s how you feel the pain and the horror of what is going through. So I did whatever was safe,” she explained.

About The Bluff

Set against the historical backdrop of the Cayman Islands, The Bluff follows a former pirate whose violent past resurfaces. Chopra portrays Ercell “Bloody Mary” Bodden, an ex-pirate striving to live peacefully with her family.

The film is co-written by Joe Ballarini and Frank E. Flowers and marks Chopra’s second collaboration with producers Joe and Anthony Russo following Citadel (2023). The cast also includes Karl Urban, Ismael Cruz Córdova, and Safia Oakley-Green.

The Bluff is scheduled for release on Prime Video on February 25.
