Prof. Avidime Assumes Office as New Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic

Professor Saliu Sanusi Avidime has officially assumed duty as the eighth substantive Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, following the exit of Professor Salisu Usman Ogbo.

The brief handing-over ceremony took place at the Council Chamber of the Polytechnic, where Prof. Ogbo expressed confidence in his successor, urging staff and students to extend full cooperation to the new Rector. He reflected on his tenure as the seventh substantive Rector, serving from April 7, 2020, to February 11, 2026, and noted that he was leaving to take up appointment as Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba.“

It is with a deep sense of gratitude to God Almighty that I hand over the leadership of the institution,” Prof. Ogbo said. He also highlighted his recent convocation of 6,824 graduands at both National and Higher National Diploma levels during the Polytechnic’s 5th Combined Convocation Ceremony.

In his remarks, Prof. Avidime pledged to sustain and build upon the legacy of quality education established by his predecessor. He called for the continued cooperation of staff and students to ensure the institution’s growth and academic excellence.
