The Pioneer Vice Chancellor of Kogi state University, now prince Abubakar University Anyigba, (PAAU) Proff. Simon Okwute over the weekend charged Alumni Associations to join hands to develop their Alma-mater.
Proff. Okwute gave the charge at the award of excellence ceremony organised by the Pioneer students of the Prince Abubakar Audu University held at Edge Drive Hotel, Lokoja over the weekend.
Okwute, one of the awardees at the event who was represented by a one time chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, comrade Emma Omattah appreciated the organisers of the occasion for the recognition accorded him.
He encouraged all pioneer students who have not yet got the type of job of their choice should not despair as their time will come adding “I will continue to remember each and every one of you in my prayers for a prosperous life.”
“I am therefore very proud as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor that the tiny seeds we planted slightly over two decades ago have today grown into very productive giant trees of great respect.”
The former VC appreciated the goal of the founding fathers, particularly, late Prince Abubakar Audu, the first elected civilian and Executive Governor of Kogi State, under whom the University was established.
He pointed out that by putting up the event, “you have provided a forum for coming together to appreciate your alma-mater and her impact on your individual and collective lives.”
