Reverend father killed in Bokkos LGA of Plateau

A Reverend farther, Mimang Lekyil, in Kwakas community, Mushere district in Bokkos local government area of Plateau state has been reportedly killed in the area by gunmen.

Two women including the wife of the Reverend father and her sister were injured in the incident and are receiving treatment at Alheri Nursing Home , Dung community.

Residents of the community told newsmen that the gunmen alleged to be kidnappers attacked the victim’s house around 9:pm yesterday night just as the occupants of the house were about to sleep.

Bishop Ayuba Matawal, a resident of Bokkos who also confirmed the incident narrated that the two women were earlier kidnapped by the kidnappers but were rescued by vigilante and youth in the area.

“Yes, the incident happened. They shot the Reverend father. The two women in the house – his wife and a visitor were kidnapped but later rescued by residents of the area who mobilized to trail the assailants. It is believed that they came to kidnap the Reverend since they went with the women before they were abandoned by the perpetrators “ Bishop Ayuba said.

Bishop Matawal further stated that the 70 year old deceased’s corpse has been deposited at Luna Mortuary in Bokkos,

Spokesperson of the Operation Safe Haven, Major Samson Zhakom has yet to respond inquiry on the incident by our correspondent as at the time of filing this report.
