Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, widely known as Sabinus, has reportedly taken it upon himself to sponsor the construction of a road in the Obi Nkita/Ali Agwor area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The development was made public through a viral post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), which included photos and videos of Sabinus at the construction site. He was seen alongside a team and a road grading machine, actively involved in road rehabilitation — filling potholes and improving the road surface.
In a video clip shared online, Sabinus is also seen engaging with what appears to be an engineer and other members of the construction crew.
The post quickly sparked widespread attention, drawing praise and criticism alike. Social media users took to the comment section to share their views:
- @AjeboDanny: “The government will fight him oo. You dey spoil their campaign material.”
- @iamurbanaira: “Nigerians will not hold leaders accountable. Instead, they’re doing the work for them. Why won’t politicians keep stealing? Who is the local government chairman?”
- @BlackUriel01: “Money is powerful and can do great things. Getting money is very important.”
- @shegzedon: “Does a citizen have the right to personally construct a road in Nigeria?”
- @badablestarlove: “That’s good of him. Not everything has to be done by the president. Wealthy individuals should also step up.”
- @lamemzy: “The government is truly useless. How can a private citizen be the one fixing roads with his own money?”
While reactions remain mixed, many applaud Sabinus for stepping in to address community needs where government presence has been lacking.
