Sen. distributes 432 bags of fertilizers to farmers in Delta South

By Anne Azuka

Senator representing Delta South Senatorial District at the red Chamber, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas has distributed 432 bags of 50kg Urea fertilizers to farmers in the eight Local Government Areas of Delta South Senatorial District.

The distribution took place at the Senatorial District Constituency Office along Emede-Oleh Road, Emede in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Speaking during the distribution exercise, Senator Joel-Onowakpo who was represented by his Senior Special Adviser on Special Duties/Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Andrew Egunoma said that the fertilizers were crucial in boosting food production, improving soil fertility, enhancing food security, and promoting economic growth in the senatorial district and the country at large.

While urging the farmers to make good use of the fertilizers, he commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for releasing the items to members of the 10th National Assembly for distribution in their respective constituencies across the country.

“The distribution of these fertilizers is very important, considering the food shortage crisis being experienced today across the country.

” These fertilizers will provide essential nitrogen to crops, which will ultimately lead to increased yields and better quality produce.

“May I also inform you that the fertilizers will help maintain soil fertility and reduce the need for frequent soil replenishment. This will enhance food security and boost economic activities in our senatorial district as well as the country”, Senator Joel-Onowakpo stated.

He therefore charged his constituents not to take this gesture from Mr. President for granted by making good use of the fertilizers to achieve the agenda.

The senator added that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was highly committed to enhancing food security in the country.

Joel-Onowakpo expressed appreciation to Mr. President for releasing the Urea fertilizers to legislators, saying that this move will ensure that the fertilizers reach the grassroots across all constituencies in the country.
