Leader of the APC in Plateau State and Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Bako Lalong on Saturday 16th March 2024 led members of the APC family to the final funeral rites of the parents of former Governor of Plateau State Chief Joshua Chibi Dariye in Horop, Bokkos Local Government.
Lalong together with Former Deputy Speaker House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Idris Wase, Party leaders, serving and past National and State Assembly members, former members of the Plateau State Executive Council and other party faithful joined thousands of sympathisers to condole with the family.
Lalong in a message said he had personal relationship with the late parents of the former Governor who passed on so much wisdom, love, sacrifices and trust to those who worked with their son.
He recalled how the late mother of Governor Dariye Mama Saratu encouraged him and other House of Assembly members to remain together and be united for the peace, progress and development of Plateau State during the trying political period of impeachment and state of emergency in Plateau State when her son was Governor.
Senator Lalong recalled that during his last visit to the residence of Chief Dariye in Abuja, the spirit of forgivenes taught by Pa Dariye and Mama Saratu resonated when they both apologised to one another and reconciled to put the past behind them any differences and misunderstanding that could have occurred.
He prayed God to grant the Dariye family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang also condoled with the family and asked them to accept this development as the will of God.
He urged the citizens to love one another and unite so that peace and prosperity will thrive.
Former Governor of Taraba State Rev. Jolly Nyame also paid tribute to the deceased parents of Senator Dariye, saying his close interaction with Senator Dariye even in difficult times proved that his background is solid.
COCIN President Rev. Dr. Amos Mozho prayed for the family and admonished the citizens to live lives worthy of God’s acceptance at all times.
There were testimonies and messages of condolence from the Gbong Gwom Jos Da Jacob Gyang Buba, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, National Security Adviser, and the National Assembly, represented by Senator Diket Plang.
