The controversy surrounding the award of contracts to lawmakers continues with Peter Nwaoboshi denying he received any letter requesting a refund of N2.5 billion.
This was to the Niger Delta Development Commission as payment for contracts to companies allegedly linked to him.
The letter addressed to the Senator, was allegedly written and signed by the Director, Legal Services of the regional agency, Peter Okoro, on the 5th of July.
But Senator Nwaoboshi, who is also the chairman of the committee on Niger Delta Affairs, said the letter never got to him either in person or to his office.
Reacting to what he described as ‘fake letter’ purportedly written to him by the NDDC, the lawmaker said, “there was no letter emanating from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) requesting a refund of N2.5 billion from him.”
The Senator also threatened a lawsuit against anyone that seeks to implicate him with accusations of involvement in NDDC contracts.
In the letter, he was given a two-week ultimatum to refund the money for the production of plastic desks and chairs for schools in the Niger Delta region in 2017.
