SMEDAN trains, empowers 300 entrepreneurs on online business in 6 states – D-G

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has trained and empowered 300 entrepreneurs on online businesses to enhance socio-economic activities in the country.

The Director-General, SMEDAN, Dr Dikko Umar Radda, made the disclosure on Monday in Katsina while flagging off e-business Youths Empowerment programme.

He said that the beneficiaries were drawn from the states of Akwa-Ibom, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Osun, Katsina and Kogi.

Radda said that the programme was aimed at training the beneficiaries on how to market their products and services online.

“As you are aware, online market is a world market place that creates access to millions of buyers across the globe.

“It is important that our young entrepreneurs both men and women are introduced into this digital ways of doing business,” he said.

The director-general said that the agency would distribute laptop computers to each trainee across the benefitting states.

He said that the trainees can conduct business processes on the internet like buying and selling products, supplies and services, servicing customers and processing payments.

Others include managing products control, collaboration with business partners, sharing information, running automated employee services and recruitment.

He urged the beneficiaries to register as cooperative society or business name with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

Radda further urged them to handle the computers with care to enable them continue to apply the skills acquired during the training for speedy growth of online businesses.

He assured that SMEDAN would continue to support entrepreneurs to achieve its dream of job creation, wealth creation and poverty alleviation. (NAN)
