Sokoto Fire Service Records Over 450 Outbreaks, Saves 261 Lives

The Sokoto State Fire Service has this year records 456 Outbreaks within and outside the metropolis.

Speaking on the activity, the Director General, Muhammad Sani Budah said despite challenges experienced by the Office, they were able to control over 450 Outbreaks, saving 270 lives from the inferno.

Budah added that 4 lives were rescued while 6 others were burnt and fumed to death.

He further said the estimated cost of properties consumed by the outbreaks stands at six hundred and forty six million, eight hundred and forty seven thousand five hundred and ninety naira (N646, 847,590) while the properties saved were estimated to cost one billion, six hundred million, five hundred and forty six thousand, four hundred and fifty six naira, N1, 600,546,456 respectively.

The Director General then called on the state government to as a matter of urgency come to their aid and repair some of the dormant fire fighting machines going by the fact that harmattan is in its period and strong wind has already begun blowing.

He called on households to take care of naked cooking fires, electrical fixtures and all it takes to keep the houses in order throughout the year round.

He similarly called called on petrol station owners to install extinguishers at every corner of their stations.
