Sokoto Government to Remodel Sheikh Danfodio Jumu’at Mosque

The Sokoto State Executive Council has approved contracts worth several billions of naira for key development projects across the state.

Among the projects is the renovation and remodeling of three major mosques. They include the Sheikh Usman Danfodio Jumu’at Mosque at a cost of ₦1.517 billion with a six-month completion period; the Government House Daily Prayer Mosque for ₦99.8 million; and a mosque at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, for ₦266.3 million.

The council also approved the reactivation of the Giginya Barracks water facility and the installation of solar power at the State Water Board. In addition, 21 general hospitals across the state will be provided with solar electricity at a cost of over ₦186 million.

Similarly, the Usmania School of Health Sciences, Sama Road, will be rehabilitated and converted into an office complex for the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy at a cost of more than ₦239 million.

Road rehabilitation projects within the Sokoto metropolis were also approved, as part of the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and providing essential services to residents.
