Sokoto Police Command Express Determination To Control Critical Issues During Campaigns

The Sokoto State Commissioner of Police Muhammed Usaini Gumel  held meeting with heads of Media executives in Sokoto State as political campaigns begins for the 2023 general elections.

 The CP highlighted the Command’s determination to ensure absolute control of critical issues likely to triggers electoral violence and the need to partner with all media executives in the state. 

As contained in a release by the command’s spokesman, DSP Sanusi Abubakar, it is important to analyze the root causes of electoral violence and to examine best practices towards preventing it. 

It said the Command already warn all political gladiators during its colloquium with critical stakeholders in the state to abide by the electoral laws in the aspect of dishing out hate speeches and other related offences bordering on campaigns and elections.

Similarly, the Command developed some jingles in collaboration with the Zonal Directorate of National Broadcasting Commission and Media executives in Sokoto to be airing them on their various platforms to sensitize the public on the danger of hate speeches and carrying arms during campaign.

The representative of all media executives in Sokoto State highlighted so many issues and made their contributions during the meeting.

 They equally pledged their unalloyed commitment and as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility to be airing those  jingles as issues of national interest is key to the development of our dear nation.

It also said in the spirit of Security Collaboration, the State Director of Security also witness the occasion and emphasized that, the media have a critical role to play and encourage all and sundry to always verify fake news reportage.
