Southern Kaduna Man Explodes: “No Difference Between Gov. Sani and El-Rufai”

By Our Correspondent

A senior citizen and traditional title holder from Southern Kaduna, Isaac Dambvou Tanko (Marafan Tsoriyang), has raised serious concerns, claiming there is no difference between the current Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, and his predecessor Mal. Nasir El-Rufai.

In a statement issued on February 20, 2025, Tanko expressed his disillusionment, suggesting that Southern Kaduna has never been more marginalized in the history of the state than under Governor Uba Sani. He criticized local leaders, like Senator Tella Laah, for aligning with a government that he believes has failed the people of Southern Kaduna.

Comparing the Two Governors

Tanko argued that El-Rufai had a more inclusive approach by incorporating Christians into key positions, whereas Governor Sani has excluded Southern Kaduna Christians from significant roles. He pointed out that under El-Rufai, Christians were present in influential positions like Agriculture, Education, and the Ministry of Justice, while Uba Sani has no Christian representation in major ministries.

Imposition of Muslim Leadership in Southern Kaduna LGs

Tanko further accused Governor Sani of imposing Muslim leadership in predominantly Christian areas of Southern Kaduna. He mentioned several local governments, such as Kagarko, Jaba, and Kachia, where Muslim leaders were appointed to key positions, including chairmen and vice chairmen. This, according to Tanko, reflects Uba Sani’s disregard for the Christian population.

Stripping Power from Deputy Governor

Another grievance raised was the marginalization of the Deputy Governor. Tanko noted that while under El-Rufai, the Deputy Governor had six commissioners under her purview, Uba Sani has reduced her role to almost nothing, stripping her of significant responsibilities.

Unfinished Projects and Neglect of Christian Areas

Tanko also highlighted the neglect of Christian-dominated areas in Kaduna state, pointing out that all of Uba Sani’s road projects have been concentrated in Muslim-majority areas. He lamented that projects started by El-Rufai in Christian areas have been left incomplete under Sani’s administration.

Religious Tensions and Deception

Tanko concluded by accusing Governor Uba Sani of being a religious bigot who has manipulated religious sentiments for political gain. He emphasized that Sani’s actions contradict his claims of being a lover of Christianity and Southern Kaduna. He warned the people to be cautious and not to be swayed by political gestures, such as attending Christmas carols, which he believes are mere political manipulations.

Tanko’s statement paints a picture of deepening religious and political tensions in Southern Kaduna, suggesting that the region’s grievances have not been properly addressed by the current leadership.
