Southern Muslims to pay N4.9m for 2024 hajj

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has revised the final fare prices for the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage, originally set at an initial deposit of N4.5 million in October. The commission aimed to maintain the fares at N4.5 million but cited recent instability in the dollar exchange rate as a reason for adjustments. Despite Chairman Jalal Arabi’s efforts to negotiate lower prices with Saudi Arabian service providers, currency fluctuations compelled a necessary adjustment. The new fares for Southern Muslims are set at N4,899,000, while those from the Northern center will pay N4,699,000, and Yola and Maiduguri centers at N4,679,000. Intending pilgrims are advised to pay or balance their Hajj fares by February 12, 2024, to meet the impending deadline. Arabi emphasized the tight deadline and expressed commitment to exploring options to remain within the N4.5 million range. The commission assured the public of its dedication to a smooth and successful Hajj pilgrimage, acknowledging the challenges posed by foreign exchange factors and appreciating the understanding and cooperation of the Nigerian Muslim community.
