Speed Darlington Arrested Again During Owerri Show

By  Milcah   Tanimu

Nigerian musician Speed Darlington, also known as AKPI, has been arrested by police during a performance in Owerri, Imo State. The incident, which took place on November 27, 2024, comes just two months after his previous detention.

Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju confirmed the arrest on X, noting that it occurred shortly after the singer’s return to Nigeria. The reasons behind the arrest remain undisclosed.

Background on Recent Arrests

Speed Darlington was last detained on October 4, 2024, following a controversial video where he allegedly mocked fellow artist Burna Boy and linked him to American rapper Diddy’s legal troubles. The singer spent five days in custody before being released on bail.

In a viral clip shared on October 17, Speed Darlington detailed his experience in detention, claiming his rights were violated. “I was held for four days without access to my family or lawyer,” he said, accusing authorities of disregarding legal detention limits.

Public Reaction

The latest arrest has left fans and observers puzzled, as many believed the artist had resolved previous disputes. Details of the charges or reasons for his arrest are expected to emerge in the coming days.

Stay tuned for updates on Speed Darlington’s ongoing legal battles.
