Sports tool for youth engagement-Osun Commissioner

By Richard Ayinde, Osogbo.

Osun State Commissioner for Youths and Sport, Mr Yemi Lawal has expressed optimism in the ability of the teeming youths of the state to conquer the world.

The Commissioner made these known while having a meeting with Coordinators of Sports from different local government Areas of the state of Osun.

Emphasising the importance of sports and sporting activities which he described its beyond human imagination, Lawal said this informed the main reason the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola is working round the clock on a daily basis in building the teeming youths of the state with necessary passion and interest which will in turn make them see the sector as another gold mine waiting to be tapped.

The Commissioner therefore charged the Coordinators drawn from different local government Areas of the state to continue to scout for talents at both urban and rural areas.

In the spirit of catching them young, Lawal told them that the current administration of Gov Oyetola will always make itself available to be assisted in any budding talent among the myriad of other nature.

The Commissioner commended the love and passion of Governor Oyetola for sports and sporting activities in the state stressing that, if not for his strong disposition for sports development in the state, he wouldn’t have given approval to the state contingent to the just concluded National Sports Festival in Edo due to current paucity of funds.

Lawal, therefore challenged the coordinators in all the different local governments to continue to encourage people especially the youths in particular on the importance of Sports in their localities.

“Sporting activities take the minds of the youths off any restiveness and the administration of Gov Oyetola is in tune with this reality, hence its resolve to make a success of it at all the times” Lawal said.

Lawal called on the Coordinators to synergize in this milieu by working in collaboration with the state Ministry of Youths and Sports as well as Osun Sports Council saying “A tree cannot make a forest”.

He thanked the Coordinators for giving him the true pictures of the day to day happenings in the various local governments.

The Local Government Coordinators of Sports in turn applauded the Commissioner of Youths and Sports, Mr Yemi Lawal for granting them audience in spite of his busy schedules.

They however declared their solidarity and support to the incumbent administration in the state.
