Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities SSANU, Federal University Otuoke Branch, has elected new leaders to pilot the affairs of the Union for the next four years.
The leaders emerged through a keenly contested election held on Wednesday 26th March 2025 at the Post Graduate School Auditorium.
The new leaders include Comrade Oye Ake (Chairman), Comrade Christian Chuckwuemeka Eleajo (Vice-Chairman), Comrade Akpama Ebisuobode Lawrence (Secretary), Comrade Ogie Bright (Assistant Secretary), Comrade Wilcox Enighebo (Treasurer), Comrade Owutuamor Ebikonbode Samuel (Financial Secretary), Comrade Tonbra Seiyabo (Public Relations Officer), Comrade Oputa Hariba Oyinemi (Trustee) Comrade Moses Itonghaye Pere-ere (Women Leader) and Comrade Asamowei Taribolou(Ex-Officio).
Inaugurating the leaders after the election, the National President of SSANU, Comr. Mohammed Haruna Ibrahim represented by the National Vice-President (South South Zone), Comr.Azumah Cheta Ugochukwu charged them to uphold the Constitution of SSANU and work as a team.
He said that they should see themselves as servant-leaders and place the welfare of members above their individual needs.
He described the process as free, fair and transparent and urged the new leadership to carry everyone along in the scheme of things.
Also speaking, the immediate past chairman of SSANU Otuoke branch, Comr.Joseph Kalizibe commended the contestants for displaying the spirit of sportsmanship and thanked the Electoral Committee for conducting a free and fair election.
In his Acceptance Speech, the Chairman of SSANU Federal University Otuoke Branch, Comrade Oye Ake expressed gratitude to God for the peaceful election and also thanked the Congress for the massive endorsement through their votes.
He said the leadership of the Union will place the welfare of members as a priority, urging members to always give their advice towards the growth and development of the union.
On his part, the electoral Committee chairman, Comr.Figilo Douye thanked members of SSANU for their peaceful disposition.
