Sultan Turbans Two Of Dasuki Families, Eighteen Others

Thousands of lovers, well wishers, supporters and people from all walks of lives today gathered at Sultan Palace to witness the turbaning ceremony of Alhaji Abubakar Dasuki, his brother Alhaji Khadir Abba Dasuki and eighteen others who are related Sultanate in one way or another.

Briefing the public, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar 111 said the title of Danmaje given to Abubakar Dasuki is usually held by a Prince from the Royal house of the Emir.

“Its origin is Kano and afterwards adopted by so many Emirates in Northern Nigeria. In Kano where it originated, it probably referred to the son of Majekarofi.

” It is probably the first in Sokoto. Danmaje is expected to be a very close Prince to the Sultan and someone who leads other Princes in assisting him in the day to day affairs of the Sultanate”, the Sultan said.

The position of Durbi held by Khadir Dasuki started in Katsina before the Danfodio’s Jihad and was occupied by a member of the Royal house of Katsina Dikko Dan Gidado, the first Emir appointed by the British.

He is to assist the Sultan in matters relating to honoring August Visitors especially the foreign officials to the Sultanate during ceremonies and anniversaries.

Until his appointment, he was a practicing pharmacist in Abuja.
