Superintendent Immigration Officer Arrested For Fraudulent Activity

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission while parading suspects of criminal syndicates specialising in defrauding unsuspecting applicants with an existing jobs opportunities in lucrative Federal government agencies like the Nigeria Immigration Service and Nigeria Ports Authority has arrested about 26 suspects.

Addressing newsmen at the office Zonal Command, the Zonal Commander, ACE 11Bawa Usman Kaltungo said on the 28th of September this year, the Commission received a petition from Aminu Binji against Ibrahim Shehu and Ibrahim Sifawa that sometime in December 2020 the petitioner Aminu Sifawa of Ministry for Youths and Sports Sokoto, informed the Commission introduced Ibrahim Shehu as the person to secure job with the Nigeria Custom Service. Kaltungo said in the course of investigation, it gathered that the suspects lured and convinced their victims that ones they had made their payment of N350,000 each, the offer will be theirs

“The two victims with that belief,made a total payment of N700,000. The investigation further revealed that the suspects also made some additional demend of from their victims such as transport and training fees bringing the total payment to N1.260,000”, averred the Commander.

Other items recovered through investigating the arrested Aminu Sifawa and Ibrahim included various incriminating documents as Nigeria Custom Service employment forms and Nigeria Ports Authority employment forms.

Continuous investigation tressed John Danjumma & Co Business Center Abuja with all prototype documents in his computer and was subsequently arrested.

Ibrahim Shehu initiated and organized a purported immigration training at Kwannawa Primary School located in the vicinity of Army Day Primary School also at Kwannawa also in Sokoto metropolis.

The suspect also employed the services of an Immigration Supretendant officer whose name withheld according to the Commander for security reasons, appeared in complete uniform to convince the victims the legality of the whole activities, he was arrested and release on bail.
