The Supreme Court of Nigeria has affirmed Sylvester (Sly) Ezeokenwa as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). The ruling, delivered on Wednesday, also fined Edozie Njoku ₦20 million for filing a frivolous lawsuit at the FCT High Court in Bwari.
This decision follows a Federal High Court order that restrained Njoku from claiming the party’s chairmanship. Justice James Omotosho ruled that no valid court order supported Njoku’s leadership, including any from the Supreme Court.
APGA Leadership Resolved
The leadership battle within APGA had caused significant controversy. Njoku’s faction was previously listed on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) website, replacing Ezeokenwa’s executive team.
Ezeokenwa and APGA challenged this in court, asserting that Njoku’s claims lacked legal merit. The Supreme Court’s ruling not only settles the leadership dispute but also restores Ezeokenwa and his team as the rightful national executive officers.
This verdict ensures stability within APGA, allowing the party to focus on its political agenda.
