By Jabiru Hassan

The Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has praised the appointment of Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed as the new Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), highlighting it as a testament to the diplomat’s extensive experience and capacity.

Rt. Hon. Buba Yakub remarked that Ambassador Mohammed’s career, spanning over three decades, reflects his exceptional leadership and expertise. He noted that Mohammed’s time with the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps, where he served as both Acting Director General and Director of Programs, further underscores his qualifications.

The former federal lawmaker extended the congratulations of NTAC’s management and staff to the new NIA head, commending President Tinubu for his astute choice, effectively placing the right person in the right role.

In a letter personally signed by the NTAC DG and shared with the media on Tuesday in Abuja, Buba Yakub stated:

“Your appointment is a clear endorsement of your renowned skills and experience as a distinguished diplomat and career civil servant. This recognition reflects the many years you have dedicated to serving our nation, including your valuable contributions to NTAC.”

“While we celebrate this significant achievement with you and your many supporters worldwide, we wish you wisdom, brilliance, and strength to meet the expectations of those who have entrusted you with this important national responsibility.”

“Once again, Your Excellency, on behalf of myself, my family, and the Management and staff of NTAC, I extend our heartfelt congratulations on your elevation to the position of DG, NIA. May Allah (SWT) grant you strength for this new task. Amin!”

Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed, the newly appointed Director General of the NIA, has served in various key roles, including positions at the State House in Abuja, Islamabad, Pakistan, and most recently in Tripoli, Libya. His appointment follows the departure of the former DG, Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar.
