Biafra: DSS feeds Nnamdi Kanu once a day – Lawyer Ejiofor alleges

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, lawyer of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has accused the Department of State Services, DSS, of starving the Biafra agitator.

Ejiofor said DSS has not allowed Kanu to eat more than once a day.

He disclosed this to journalists in Owerri, Imo State, on Friday after his routine visit with Kanu at DSS headquarters in Abuja.

Ejiofor lamented that the IPOB’s leader was getting worse due to the refusal of the DSS, to allow him to change his clothes despite repeated court orders to do so.

Ejiofor said: “We were also reliably informed by Onyendu that his meals are no longer served regularly. Onyendu barely eats once a day, and this situation is not helping his deteriorating medical condition.

“The lawless DSS personnel have remained adamant with how they treat Court orders with levity and disdain, which is unacceptable as no one is above the law anywhere in the world.

“Be assured UmuChineke that we, in the legal team are not resting on our oars towards ensuring that these infractions are addressed with immediate effect.”

Biafra: Fresh ‘evidence’ emerges in Nnamdi Kanu’s case

    By Isaac Kertyo

Prince Kanu Meme, one of the siblings of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Wednesday said there is “fresh evidence” in the trial of the agitator.

Meme claimed that Kanu “is still technically in Kenya from the new evidence.”

He, however, did not elaborate on “the new evidence,” which is linked to Kanu’s rearrest and repatriation from Kenya.

The IPOB leader is believed to have been arrested in Kenya last year June.

Kanu was detained for eight days in Kenya before his repatriation to Nigeria to continue his trial before Justice Binta Nyako-led Federal High Court.

Upon his return, Kanu was slammed with charges bordering on terrorism.

A 15-count terrorism charge was slammed on Kanu by the Federal Government.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and asked the Federal High Court, Abuja, to discharge and acquit him without standing trial because the charges were not worth being defended.

However, Meme, in a Facebook post wrote: “Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is still technically in Kenya from the new evidence.”

Biafra: Why IPOB became terrorist organization – Okorocha

An All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential aspirant, Rochas Okorocha has suggested why members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, became terrorists.

Okorocha explained that IPOB became a terrorist group because it was not properly handled by the government.

The former governor of Imo State spoke while addressing State House Correspondents after his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday.

Okorocha said he, however, sees IPOB members as poorly educated children and not terrorists.

According to Okorocha: “There was no need to have handled the IPOB matter the way it was handled. Today they have turned out to be terrorists.

“But for me, I don’t see them as terrorists. I see them as children who have not been properly educated on the happenings.”

Members of IPOB have been agitating for the actualization of Biafra in the Southeast.

Their agitation led to the arrest of the group’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu is facing terrorism charges before an Abuja Federal High Court.

The charges were brought against him by the Nigerian Government.

Biafra: IPOB leader Kanu capitalizes on Igbos’ naivety, anger – Okorocha

Senator Rochas Okorocha has described Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, as a smart man who took advantage of the Igbo’s unhappiness and naivety.

Okorocha made the remark during a chat with Arise TV while commenting on IPOB’s secessionist agitation in the Southeast
Okorocha insisted that most Southeast youths are not secessionists but angry Nigerians railing against the system, making them easy targets for IPOB’s agenda.

“The issue of IPOB is very controversial and they are the agitations of some young men seeking for relevance who even disrespected me during my tenure as a governor; I don’t see them as secessionists.

“They had been told that the rest of the country hates them. Nnamdi Kanu is a smart man who got these people to think as he wanted,” he said.

  • Biafra: Why Abuja court may reinstate Nnamdi Kanu’s bail – Lawyer, Ejimakor

Biafra: Why Abuja court may reinstate Nnamdi Kanu’s bail – Lawyer, Ejimakor

Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has said the Abuja Federal High Court may reinstate the agitator’s initial bail.

Ejimakor said the judgment by the Abia State High Court may pave the way for the Federal High Court, Abuja to reinstate Kanu’s bail.

Recall that Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja had in 2017 granted the IPOB leader bail.
Shortly after he was granted bail, soldiers invaded his Afaraukwu residence in Abia State.

Amid the invasion, the IPOB leader had fled the country to Europe, where he continued his agitation for Biafra.
But, in June 2021, Kanu was rearrested in an African country believed to be Kenya, and was repatriated.

In October 2021, Kanu through Ejimakor initiated a fundamental rights violation suit against the Nigerian government.
Ruling on the suit, Justice Anya described Kanu’s arrest in Kenya as illegal, and ordered the Federal Government to pay him one billion naira as compensation.
The judge also ordered the government to apologize to Kanu.
However, Ejimakor said the judgement was significant and has a direct impact on Kanu’s case at the Federal High Court.
In a statement he signed, Ejimakor said: “This press release is necessitated by the flurry of public commentaries on the 19th January 2022 judgment of the High Court of Abia State in favor of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“Most of the commentaries have bordered on examining the latent impacts the judgment may have beyond the monetary award and the apology. Of particular note is whether the judgment should directly or indirectly impact the persisting notion that Kanu had jumped bail in 2017, which was what grounded the bench warrant that was used to justify his rendition.
“In summary, the answer is in the affirmative that this landmark judgment has created new legal opportunities for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, especially as regards impeaching the bench warrant that grandfathered his extraordinary rendition.

“You will recall that from late 2017, I had maintained a well-publicized stance that Nnamdi Kanu never jumped bail and that he will, in due course of time, prove that it was the Nigerian government that compelled him to flee and seek refuge outside Nigeria. This was the material issue before the Court and it prevailed.

“In particular, the Court held that: “It is the view of this Court that the Army set out as pythons to terminate the life of Nnamdi Kanu. The military invasion of his home at Afaraukwu Ibeku is so notorious that this Court cannot turn a blind eye to it. He deserves an apology and compensation.

“Additionally, the Court held that: “Kanu has by credible evidence proved to the Honourable Court that his fundamental rights to dignity of human person and personal liberty were wantonly or brazenly violated and his fundamental right to life threatened brazenly by Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“In other words, the Court impliedly held that Kanu never made a voluntary decision to flee Nigeria or to be absent from his trial. To this extent, this judgment has finally obliterated the vested and false notion that Kanu had jumped bail back in 2017.

“Accordingly, the bench warrant upon which his rendition from Kenya was grounded has now become impeachable and liable to be vacated, thus paving the way for his previous bail to be reinstated.”

  • Ebonyi State Will Never Be Part Of Biafra – Dave Umahi

Ebonyi State Will Never Be Part Of Biafra – Dave Umahi

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State has said that his state will not take part in the struggle for the actualization of Biafra.

Umahi who made this known in Abakaliki, the state capital on Thursday during a reception organized for him after declaring his presidential bid in Abuja earlier in the week, said his state will not be part of the agitation for a sovereign nation for the Igbos.

“First and foremost, I have been saying it, if anybody tells you about Biafra, tell them Ebonyi State will never be part of Biafra. We are not Biafra.
“We have been so oppressed and now we are finding our feet and you want us to go back. We will not. We will not,” the governor declared.

Speaking on his 2023 presidential ambition, the governor allayed fears making the rounds suggesting that any southeasterner who emerges president might split the nation.

He argued that Igbos have investment everywhere across the country, saying it would be impossible to think of secession when in power.

“Some enemies of the South-East say if we become president we will divide the country. How will we divide the country when we have investments everywhere?” the governor questioned.

Reaffirming his stand regarding the Biafra push, Umahi stated that “anyone that wants to cause insecurity in the South-East must be crushed”.

According to the governor, Ebonyi State is better in a fair and equitable Nigeria because the state has investments everywhere and one cannot set fire to his own house.

He vowed that if he becomes president, he will further the projects of President Buhari and will fight the corruption in Nigeria to a standstill.

The governor was resolute that it is time to build a better Nigeria.

“What we did in Ebonyi State, we can replicate in Nigeria. Nigeria is a possibility. Before 31st of January, 2022, we will do our declaration to run for the Presidency.”

Joe Igbokwe opposes Biafra, demands additional South-East state

An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Joe Igbokwe has opposed Biafra agitation.

The Special Adviser on Drainage and Water Resources to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, insisted that separation is not the answer.

He, however, urged the Feferal Government to create one more state in the South-East.

In a chat with BBC News Pidgin, Igbokwe said the Igbos have married and made friends with people from across Nigeria.

“Some have mothers that are Igbos, and fathers Hausa. There have been inter-ethnic relationships for years.

“The only thing I want the federal government to do is the creation of additional state in the South-East. I have been advocating this.

“We will have 6 governors, more Senators, House of Representatives members, State of Assembly, state capital, university, take-off funds, more local governments.

“So many things will come up. 12,000 jobs will be created created immediately as there will be instant development in the zone”, Igbokwe said.

  • I Promised To Smoke You Out – Asari Dokubo Mocks Nnamdi Kanu

I Promised To Smoke You Out – Asari Dokubo Mocks Nnamdi Kanu

Mujahid Asari Dokubo, a former Niger Delta militant, has mocked Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, over his re-arrest by the federal government.

Recall that Dokubo had vowed to destroy Kanu, who he described as ‘evil’ and also accused him of defrauding Biafrans.

In his latest video, the ex-militant warlord claimed that the IPOB leader receives defence funds without giving account of his spending.

He also alleged that Kanu demanded payment from all Biafrans on a monthly basics to be part of the Biafra nation when actualized.

“Nnamdi Kanu, I’m not in your category but for this, I will surely bring you down. I will destroy this evil empire that is working as a hindrance to the restoration of Biafra. Biafra is your business now; you have no other avenue for gainful income. It is a pity how Igbo people have fallen for this evil, but your time is up. I am out for you. And I will get you,” Dokubo had said at the time.

Few days after Kanu was caught, Dokubo mocked the IPOB leader, saying his ordeal has not started.

In a video, Dokubo accused Kanu of defrauding Biafrans, saying he has been unable to account for funds remitted to him.

“Nnamdi Kanu, I promised I will smoke you out. Your madness never start, this one wey start now, na market e dey go. You have harmed Biafrans and traded with us so much.

“You collected our money in the name of defence funds and you cannot give account. You are demanding that all Biafrans should pay money to you on monthly basis or they will not be allowed to enter Biafra. Doesn’t that make you a conman, an extortionist?

“You alleged that that you gave me N20 million, video doesn’t lie. When I stated it last year leading to election, you were so cowardly not to respond to me. You sent your followers to respond to me and they said a lot of things and I demanded the evidence that I demanded N20 million from you.

“I have never been a member of IPOB, you gave me N20 million, tell us is it by bank transfer, is it by cash, who brought the cash to me? I’m waiting. Produce the evidence.”

Dokubo taunted Kanu by saying he had been detained over 70 times yet he has remained in the country.

“I can’t run away from my land because they will overrun it. I am not like you Ben Johnson… I fought all the way to the supreme court. My record is in the Supreme Court, you can check it.”
