    Eid-El-Kabir: Gov Bello Tasks People on Security, Respect For Constituted Authority In Kogi

    The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello on Wednesday charged the people of the state to be law abiding and be security conscious in order to make the state a new haven.

    The governor gave the charge shortly after observing eid prayer at Okene eid praying ground, the country home of Governor Yahaya Bello.

    He charged the people of the state to respect constituted authority and promised to fulfil his promises of developing the state far better than he met it in 2016.

    “I thank God almighty who has brought us thus far. This is my last time of praying on this ground as a governor. I thank God for his protection, guidance and the good health we have enjoyed through out my tenure till date.

    Governor Bello called on the citizens of the state to be patient with the current government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, assuring that with perseverance there are better days ahead under the current administration.

    He noted that in the last seven years, his government had committed a lot in ensuring that the state remain peaceful and urged the citizens of the state to co-operate and support him to complete his tenure that would end January next year.

    The governor appealed to the chief imam of Ebiraland Sheik Salihu Abere to use his position as a religion leader to unite the people irrespective of belief, urging him not to allow any body to derail him from performing his functions as chief imam.

    Ohinoyi of Ebiraland His Royal Highness Ado Ibrahim commended Governor Yahaya Bello for developmental efforts across the state.

    The Chief imam Sheik Salihu Abere in his sermon reminded Muslims to go closer to God through intensive prayer to enable them enjoy God’s favour.

    In a message to felicitate the Eid-el-kabir with Muslim faithfuls in the FCT, the Territory, the Permanent Secretary of FCDA, Mr. Olusade Adesola has enjoined residents to uphold the values of compassion as depicted in the festival of sacrifice.
     
    Adesola said, ”  On behalf of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), it is my privilege to convey my sincere prayers and well wishes to residents of the FCT, especially the Muslim Ummah on the celebration of Eid-el-kabir.”

     
    According to him, the celebration known as the Festival of Sacrifice, Eid-el-Kabir holds great significance as it teaches  the values of selflessness, compassion, and the importance of sharing our blessings with those in need.

     He enjoins Muslims and the residents to come together as a community to express gratitude for the countless blessings bestowed upon everyone.

    ‘As residents of the Federal Capital Territory, we are fortunate to live in a diverse and harmonious society, where people from various backgrounds and cultures coexist in harmony. Our unity in diversity is a testament to our collective strength and resilience.’

     
    ”  I urge each one of you to embrace the true spirit of Eid-el-Kabir by extending kindness and generosity to fellow residents. Let us reach out to the less fortunate, ensuring that no one is left behind. Together, we can make a positive difference in the lives of those who are in need, bringing joy and happiness to their hearts.”

    Furthermore, he reminded everyone to observe the necessary  public health and security  protocols while celebrating this joyous occasion especially as they pertain to environmental sanitation and traffic regulations.

     We should also imbibe the mantra of saying something when we observe anything untoward or suspicious.

     Once again, I wish you all a blessed and joyful Eid-el-Kabir. May this auspicious occasion bring peace, happiness, and prosperity to all our lives.

    Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly Alh Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi has felicitated with the Muslim communities on this year’s Eid-el Kabir celebration and called for fervent prayers for the nation’s sustain peace, progress and success of the new administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

    A statement by Press Secretary to the Speaker Jibrin Gwamna quotes the Speaker Balarabe Abdullahi as also urging citizens of the State to use the period to pray and support Gov. Abdullahi Sule and other leaders at all levels to succeed on the task ahead of them.

    Speaker, Balarabe Abdullahi who is the African Representative at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association CPA underscored the significance of the festival of sacrifice the world over hence the need for the period to be used for sober reflections through love, understanding and sacrifice.

    The Nasarawa State Number Three Citizen urged believers to use the period to strengthen their relationship with God and fellow human beings especially the need for the well to do to support the less privileged in the society to give them sense of belonging.

    “let us all continue to pray fervently for God Almighty to see our country through unity, peace and prosperity as well as emerging challenges confronting the nation”

    Eid-El-Kabir: FG Declares Wednesday, Thursday Public Holiday

    The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, June 28 and Thursday, June 29, 2023 as Eid-El-Kabir holidays.

    This was contained in a statement by a Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Oluwatoyin Akinlade.

    “The Federal Government has declared Wednesday June 28th and Thursday June 29th 2023 Public Holidays in commemoration of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration and heartily felicitates with the Muslim Ummah at home and in the diaspora,” the statement read.

    Akinlade enjoined Muslims and all Nigerians “to make sacrifices for the growth and development of our communities and our great country, Nigeria”.

    The permanent secretary expressed hope that the prayers and sacrifices of the season will restore the much-desired peace and unity the country desire.

    “We are hopeful that the prayers and sacrifices that come with this great celebration as well as the message of Eid-ei-Kabir will bring about peace, unity and progress in Nigeria,” the statement concluded.

    The founder, Tamallan foundation Dr. Saleh Musa Wailare has issued his Sallah greetings to the people of Dambatta and Makoda local governments, as well as the Muslims Umma across the globe.

    In a statement signed and issues to newsman in Kano, his personal assistant on media and publicity Jabiru Hassan, Dr. Wailare stated that ” I wish to congratulates the people of Dambatta and Makoda federal constituency and the world Muslims community for witnessing this year’s Eid-el Kabir in a colourful events where we learnt more lessons under the teachings of Islam which is our pride”. He concluded.

    Dr. Wailare who is also aspiring for the membership of the house of representatives from Dambatta and Makoda constituency thanked the entire electorates across the two local governments for supporting his candidacy in the forthcoming 2023 general elections and promised to transform the constituency of given the mandate.

    The statement further called on the good citizens of Dambatta and Makoda who are eligible to vote to obtain their own PVC’s in order to vote for credible candidates that would deliver dividends of democracy without bias.

    Eid-El-Kabir: Nigerian Muslims Observe Prayers At Eid Grounds

    Nigerian Muslims have joined their counterparts across the globe to celebrate the 2023 Eid-El-Adha also known as Eid-El Kabir.

    The annual festival of Eid al-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice marks the end of the hajj pilgrimage to Mecca by hundreds of millions of Muslims.

    It is usually celebrated with prayers offered on the Eid ground, followed by the slaughter of goats, sheep and cattle in commemoration of the Prophet Abraham’s readiness to sacrifice his son to show obedience to Allah.

    In Katsina, President Muhammadu Buhari arrived his country home, the Daura area of the north-western state for the Eid-el- Kabir on Friday evening.

    He had earlier arrived at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport, Katsina, from where he was flown to the ancient town in a helicopter.

    Hundreds of residents from within and outside the town attended the two Rak’at prayers, including the President and his son, Yusuf and the Emir of Daura, HRH Umar Faruk Umar as well as other top-ranking personalities.

    The two Rak’at prayers led by Imam Safiyanu Yusuf Dansanwai at Kofar Arewa Eid Prayer Ground commenced at about 10:00 am and rounded up at about 10:05 am.

    Also in attendance were traditional and religious leaders including the ward, village and district heads as well as members of the business and political communities in Daura.

    President Buhari eventually slaughtered his ram meant for sacrifice.

    As Muslim Faithful celebrate Eid-el- Kabir, Chairman Of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu has felicitated with Muslims faithful in the council and the Federal Capital Territory,

    In his Salah Message to residents signed by Senior Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs to AMAC Chairman Kingsley Madaki, made available to Daybreak today, the Chairman in his Salah messages to residents urged Muslims and Nigerians to use the Salah period, which he described as a golden opportunity to embrace one another in promoting long-lasting peace and unity in Nigeria.

    Maikalangu said that Muslims must continuously sustain discipline exhibited during the last Ramadan fast, to promote such qualities that would project Nigeria as a leading nation globally and a nation to be proud of.

    The Chairman further emphasized that the occasion should also be used to foster unity as exemplified by the sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim culminating in the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.

    He also called on AMAC residents to be law abiding, adding that selflessness, love and sacrifice are part of the guiding principles in the Eid-el-Kabir.
    He used the occasion to assure residents that his administration will strive to implement necessary policies to improve the economy of the council.

    The chairman while appreciating Almighty Allah for this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, enjoined all Nigerians, irrespective of their religious and political affiliations to continue to live in peace, harmony and to be their brothers’ keeper.

    Meanwhile Maikalangu reiterated his commitment to strengthen all institutions for a dynamic, orderly, and all-inclusive administration in AMAC while appealing for unity and co- existence among Nigerians and total support for President Muhammad Buhari’s administration fight against security challenges and and a robust national economy.

    Furthermore he called for prayers for the FCT Administration and success of the country’s leadership under President Buhari, for Allah’s guidance, protection, and wisdom to steer the affairs of the nation as his administration winds up.

    The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Edward Egbuka, has assured the state of adequate arrangements by the command to ensure peaceful celebration of Eid-El-Kabir in the state.

    In a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), SP William Ovye Aya said the commissioner promised a sustained efforts by the Command in fighting crimes and criminality and improving public safety and security across the state.

    According to the statement, the Commissioner gave the assurance while charging Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the State, and their supervisory Area Commanders as well as Tactical Commanders to beef-up security ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

    The Commissioner said this will help to prevent any untoward situation in their Area of Responsibility throughout the Eid-el-Kabir season and beyond.

    CP. Egbuka further directed the Divisional Police Officers to put in place all necessary security measures to ensure a secure, peaceful and hitch-free celebration.

    “They are to, amongst other activities, deploy human and other operational assets to carry out confidence building and crime prevention patrols on major highways, residential and, vulnerable points, places of worship and other places of public interest”.

    ”The Commissioner of Police, while congratulating the Muslim Faithfuls in the State on the occasion of the year 2022 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, reiterates the Command’s level of preparedness, determination and commitment in synergy with other security agencies in ensuring safety of lives and property of citizens, and denying space for crimes and criminality to thrive in and around the state”.

    He urged the public to continue to collaborate with the security Forces with credible and useful information on the activities of criminal elements in order to curtail their acts.

    Eid-El-Kabir: I Won’t Rest Until I Bring Relief To Nigerians – Buhari

    President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that he would not rest until they get relief from him in view of the current security challenges and costs of living in the country.

    The President gave the assurance in his Eid-el Kabir message to Nigerian Muslims and other citizens.

    “I am quite aware of the difficulties people are facing and working to resolve them,” he said in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu.

    President Buhari expressed hope that this Eid would be a source of blessing, peace, prosperity and safety for all Nigerians, stressing that coexistence and stability will prevail in the country.

    The President, who called for more patriotism to build a better Nigeria, appealed to Nigerians to put the interest of the country above selfish interests and “use religion as a motivation for the love of our common humanity.”

    The President said “if we are putting the teachings of our religions into practice, most of the evils afflicting our society would have been solved.”

    According to him, “religion shouldn’t just be used as a mere badge of identity, but as a motivator for doing good for our country and humanity.”

    He said “the exploitation of the people by traders and the stealing of public funds by civil servants and other holders of public trust is a reflection of the abandonment of the teachings of our religions.”

    “Our society is a bundle of contradictions. People display external religiosity without fear of God; they make life difficult for others; money becomes their god; leaders abandon their oaths of office by taking money meant for the welfare of the people and divert it to their private pockets,” he said.

    President Buhari congratulated the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and the world on the occasion of the Eid, citing for special mention, “the brave men and women in uniform fighting terror on many fronts and their families, as well as others held hostage and kept away from their families by wicked and heartless terrorists.”

    He used the occasion to call on all Muslims to reflect on the significance of the sacrifice epitomised by Eid.

    According to the President, “We should show love and care to our neighbours and others while celebrating this spiritually important event in our lives.”

    President Buhari also advised Muslims “to promote the good virtues of Islam through personal examples and practice,” adding that “Muslims should avoid association with violent extremist ideas that have wrongly given Islam a negative image or poor perception.”

    The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila has rejoiced with the Nigerian Muslims on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

    Gbajabiamila noted that the period calls for sacrifice and commitment to the course of the Almighty Allah.

    He called on Nigerian Muslims, especially those participating in this year’s Hajj, to redouble their prayers for the country.

    At times like this, the Speaker said, it is incumbent on the people to be united as one people to face the challenges confronting the country.

    Speaker Gbajabiamila was optimistic that with prayers, Nigeria will overcome her challenges, calling for special prayers for the peaceful conduct of the 2023 general elections.
