Sokoto state governor and chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum, Aminu Tambuwal stated this at the end of a meeting of the governors held at the Sokoto Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja.

The meeting which had in attendance almost all the PDP governors, followed quickly on the heels of a similar one held by the party’s Board of Trustees at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.

Addressing journalists at the end of the meeting which lasted over five hours, Tambuwal said the PDP governors would not politicize insecurity, hence, their resolve to join hands with the federal government to tame the monster.

“It was a very productive meeting. We reviewed the situation of the country, the security challenges in the country.

“As governors of the PDP, we have agreed and resolved to continue to work with the federal government with the sole aim of re-establishing peace in troubled areas of the federation.

“We must not play politics with security and we must all work together to ensure that we bring back peace in our land. So we have agreed to continue to work with the federal government in that regard,”
    he said.

Tambuwal also let newsmen into the heart of the issues deliberated upon by the PDP governors, saying, “on the general economic well being of the country, we are appealing to Mr President, to reconsider certain measures, and we are appealing to him to actually bring more succour and relief to the people of Nigeria and support state governments in the discharge of their mandate, by making available resources to the states.

“That will enable us execute our mandate and ensure that we engender good governance and good condition of living in our respective states throughout the country.”

On effort to reconcile aggrieved members of the party, the governor said the Saraki-led committee has submitted an interim report to the forum and encouraged the committee members to continue in its rebuilding effort.

He ruled out the possibility of any governor leaving the PDP for another party, noting that “most, if not all of the governors of the PDP attended this meeting.

“This is a very clear statement that no governor of PDP is contemplating leaving the party for any other party.

“We are brothers and we have committed ourselves to the party and will ensure that we will continue to deliver on our mandate to the people of our respective states who have agreed to work together with the National working committee of the party for us to continue with what we started earlier on e-registration of members of the party,” he added.

Whatever you want us to do as governments, for these States, we are ready to do that.

Stating that the communities in the States are hospitable, the Governor.said: “We will give you all the enablers. Whatever you want us to do we will do for us to bring out what we have underneath for the common advantage or use of our country.”

He, however, emphasized that the states “are not…in competition with any region. We are not in competition with any body. We do not claim the ownership of these resources. What we are saying is that the resources are for the Federal Republic of Nigeria and they are here.”

Instead, he urged for cooperation in the best interest of the nation, calling that all the federating units should “come and let’s put our hands together; and ensure that we bring them out for the benefit of the people.”

In his presentation, Kyari said although the corporation is desirous of a beneficial energy transition regime, this, he stressed “cannot be complete without the right investment climate, capital, effective regulation and stakeholders’ commitment, stable institutions and governance…”

A Unique Season And A Time To Stay Safe – Tambuwal

    By Muhammad Ibrahim, Sokoto

Being a seasonal message to Nigerians by Sokoto state Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal

Beloved Nigerians, its Christmas time again and I extend to you all very warm greetings of the yuletide on behalf of my family and people of Sokoto state. May the gracious presence of God fill your home with peace and your heart with joy, in this season and always.

This season is a unique one, like none before it. Reports from around our country at his time, indicate that our nation is assailed on all sides by poverty, raging inflation, unparalleled insecurity and stories of kidnappings and failings by our security apparatuses to adequately secure and protect our peoples.

Ordinarily, we should despair or lose the motivation and reason to celebrate this beautiful moments of joy and peace to the world, but we must not!

However, as we celebrate with our kith and kin in our villages and towns, we must do so mindful of the fact that a second wave and variant of COVID – 19, which medical experts say spreads faster than the one we are still enduring, is here with us.

I encouraged everyone therefore, to be mindful of these limiting factors and situations. As a result, this is not the time to throw caution to the wind but a time to be cautious of all the COVID – 19 protocols of social distancing, hand washing, wearing of the face mask always and avoiding crowded arenas.

Let’s keep in mind that we can beat this virus by obeying these simple health instructions as we celebrate. Christmas and New Year are joyful seasons that bring forth new and assured life to all, let’s not make either a season to further spread the virus.

Today and especially during this holiday season I pay tribute to all our health workers and security agents at the frontlines keeping us safe every day. I bring to them a message of gratitude and salutation for the great service and sacrifice they bear daily to make us a healthy and secure nation. Know you are always in our thoughts and prayers

In Sokoto we are turning every stone of development to ensure that the quality of healthcare and security cover for our people is holistic and responsive to the situation in the country today.

We have in place a Contributory health insurance scheme  for our workers including students. Efforts are on to extend it to our citizens in the informal sector. We are also building massive state – of – art first class teaching hospital to provide modern and tertiary healthcare to our people as our Advanced Diagnostic Centre is nearing completion. For security, we have revamped nearly 19 grazing reserves to check incidents of farmers and herders clashes while supporting the security outfits in the state with logistics to perform better.

While wishing you all Happy Christmas celebrations, I also extend our best wishes for a New Year of Happiness in a world of peace devoid of incidents of fear and insecurity.
