Tekno Clarifies Health Status Amidst False Collapse Reports

By  Milcah    Tanimu

Nigerian singer Tekno has addressed rumors about his health, clarifying that he did not collapse during a performance in South Africa, as some reports had claimed.

On August 20, 2024, Tekno took to social media to dispel the misinformation. Posting on his official Instagram page, he reassured fans of his well-being, stating, “Hey guys, I’m hale and hearty and not currently in South Africa. I hope whoever that was in the video is doing well and okay. Thank you, guys. Love you.”

The post brought relief to his followers, with many expressing their gratitude in the comments. One fan commented, “Thank God, I feel better now,” while another expressed frustration at the spread of false news, saying, “Who is carrying this kind of news?” and another adding, “You dey Equatorial Guinea 🇬🇶 dey chop the peaceful good life! Mad people dey one corner dey post shit.”

Nigerian artist Mr Eazi also debunked the false reports, clarifying that Tekno was actually in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, not South Africa. He tweeted, “Lmao Tekno wey Malabo.”

Following Mr Eazi’s clarification, users on X (formerly Twitter) confirmed that the viral video did not feature Tekno. One user commented, “You dey mind them! People go just dey spread fake news like bedspread. For the record, guys, that’s not Tekno. The person in that video is Prezzo from Kenya, he’s a rapper, and was among the contestants that participated in Big Brother Africa some years back.” Another added, “This is an old video of a Kenyan rapper, Prezzo. Check YouTube u go see am. Not Tekno, please.”
