“Tense Clash: DSS vs. Prisons for Emefiele’s Custody”

A tense situation unfolded at the court premises as heavily armed Department of State Services (DSS) officials engaged in a clash with Nigeria Correctional Services (NCS) officials over custody of the suspended former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.

During the altercation, an unidentified high-ranking NCS official was severely beaten and subsequently arrested by the DSS operatives. The situation escalated as more DSS officials were mobilized to counter the prison authorities’ attempt to take custody of Emefiele.

Prior to the confrontation, the Prison authorities had already gathered more personnel to comply with the court’s order to take custody of Emefiele. However, the DSS officials were determined to prevent Emefiele from being taken out of the court.

The chaos caused lawyers and journalists present to seek safety, as the DSS operatives positioned their men strategically around the court premises. The journalists and legal practitioners covering the matter found themselves caught in the midst of the escalating confrontation.

As the situation unfolds, tension remains high, and the authorities are likely to address the clash between the DSS and NCS officials over the custody of the suspended former CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele.
