The dangerous effects of skin bleaching

It’s become fashionable among both males and females to be light-skinned. And this has pushed many dark-skinned persons with low self-esteem to venture into skin bleaching.

It is worse that almost every local body cream you find in the market makes you ‘lighter’. What people don’t seem to understand is that if it makes you lighter, it is dangerous and you should stop using it immediately.

Here are the dangerous effects of skin bleaching:

Bleaching causes Cancer
Bleaching your skin with skin lightening creams is a free pass to developing skin cancer. The chemicals used in producing lightening creams can lead to the spread of radical cells in the skin, thus leading to the growth and reproduction of cells at an abnormal rate, which find their way into other places in your body. Your skin also stops producing the melanin that is needed to protect your skin from the harmful consequences of ultraviolet radiation.

Bleaching destroys your kidney
Not that I’m encouraging you to sell your kidney, but if you come to know the worth of your kidney, you’d take care of it. Moreso, kidney failure can lead to death. Lightening creams have been known to cause Nephrotic syndrome, which is a major kidney disorder.
Lightening creams contain mercury and with its prolonged usage, not just your kidney would be at risk, but also your lungs.

Bleaching burns your skin
I’m sure you’d have seen those people with burns all over their skin. The corrosive substances in the lightening cream after a long use will eventually lead to your skin looking like what was overcooked. Even to you, this sight becomes irritating.

Bleaching makes you look old
People bleach their skin for the cosmetic advantage; they want to look young and beautiful, with bright shining skins but lightening creams actually does the direct opposite. The chemicals in these creams cause pigmentations and wrinkles that make your skin look like your grandmother’s.

Bleaching destroys your self-esteem
Bleaching your skin already indicates that you do not appreciate yourself enough. Bleaching one’s skin would however not eliminate the issue of low self-esteem, in short, it only enunciates it loudly to the public. You’ll discover how much damage you have done to your skin when the questions begin to troop in. The issue was never your skin, it was you and bleaching would only help to decrease your self-worth.
You may even start to hate yourself when the side effects of using a whitening cream begins to kick in. Looking at the burns and dark spots in the mirror will leave you with regrets and a bigger problem. You may begin to avoid outings like pool parties, and gradually, you’d regress into a thicker shell.
Any cream that you buy that makes you fairer is a health risk. Bleaching destroys the kidney and liver and no right thinking person should bleach.
