Three APC Chieftains Die in Kogi as Governor Ododo Mourns Party Leaders

The Kogi State Government has announced the death of three prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, drawing condolences from Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and party leaders. The deceased include two aides to the governor and a ward chairman of the ruling party.The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, disclosed the development in a statement issued over the weekend in Lokoja. He described the deaths as a painful loss to the government, the APC, and the people of Kogi State.Those who passed away are Hon. Onojah James Ignatius, Special Adviser to the Governor of Kogi State and former Chairman of Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area; Hon. Jatto Onimisi Suleiman, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor; and Alhaji Alih Atabo, APC Chairman of Anyigba Ward in Dekina Local Government Area.

According to the statement, the Kogi State Government and the APC received the news with profound sorrow, noting that the deceased were distinguished sons of the state who served with dedication, loyalty, and commitment. Fanwo described Hon. Onojah James Ignatius as a seasoned grassroots mobiliser and administrator whose passion for community development and good governance was evident throughout his public service. He said Onojah’s contributions at both the local government and state levels left a lasting impact.

Hon. Jatto Onimisi Suleiman, the statement noted, was known for his humility, diligence, and strong sense of responsibility. It added that he consistently placed public interest above personal considerations in the discharge of his duties.Alhaji Alih Atabo was described as a committed party stalwart whose devotion to the growth, unity, and progress of the APC at the ward level was exemplary. The government said his grassroots leadership played a key role in strengthening the party in Dekina Local Government Area.“

On behalf of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the government and people of the state extend heartfelt condolences to their families, friends, associates, and the entire APC family,” the statement read.The government also commiserated with the people of Igalamela, Okene, and Dekina communities, as well as all those whose lives were touched by the deceased through their years of service.

Fanwo noted that the contributions of the late APC chieftains to the development of Kogi State and the strengthening of the ruling party would not be forgotten. He said their legacies of service, sacrifice, and dedication would continue to inspire public servants and party faithful.The statement concluded with prayers for the repose of their souls and for God to grant their families the strength to bear the losses.
