President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service. The appointment takes effect from August 14, 2025.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) in a statement signed by its Secretary, Major General A.M. Jibril (retd.), on behalf of the President.
Olumode’s appointment follows the retirement of the current Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji, who will officially leave office on August 13, 2025, after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.
According to the CDCFIB, Olumode brings extensive experience to the role, having risen through the ranks from the FCT Fire Service to become Deputy Controller-General in charge of Human Resources at the Federal Fire Service headquarters.
“He has completed all required in-service and command training courses, both locally and internationally,” the statement noted.
Olumode is also affiliated with several professional bodies, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.
The Board also expressed its appreciation to the outgoing Controller-General, Engr. Jaji, for his “remarkable contributions” to the growth and reform of the Federal Fire Service, commending his dedication and the initiatives he championed during his tenure.
