President Bola Tinubu is currently engaged in a closed-door meeting with former governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), and Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The three former governors arrived at the villa around 3:33 pm but faced a brief delay as security personnel sought clearance from their superiors before allowing them to proceed to the President’s office. The purpose of their visit was not initially disclosed.
Last week, both Wike and Umahi separately visited the State House to meet with President Tinubu. During his visit, Wike expressed his support for Tinubu to the press.
Umahi, who recently stepped down from his position as governor, arrived with Senator George Akume, the newly appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
There are unconfirmed reports suggesting that Wike might be considered for a ministerial position due to his involvement in the presidential election that brought Tinubu to power on February 25, despite being a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Akpabio, on the other hand, is the preferred candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the position of Senate President, and Umahi is a senator-elect.
Details of the meeting and its outcomes have not been disclosed at this time.
