Tinubu Prioritising National Security, Says Tinubu Support Group Amid Renewed Attacks

By Dr. Umar Tanko Yakasai

The Tinubu Support Group (TSG) has expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to restore peace across Nigeria, despite the recent resurgence of security threats in parts of the country. In a statement issued by its Director-General, Dr. Umar Tanko Yakasai, the group said the President’s empathy, responsiveness, and hands-on involvement demonstrate his commitment to safeguarding lives and strengthening national security.According to the TSG, the recent attacks in the North West, North Central, and North East—including the abduction of 25 students of Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga in Kebbi State, the killing of Brig.-Gen. Musa Uba by ISWAP along the Damboa–Biu axis in Borno, and the assault on a Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara—underscore the severity of the current threat landscape. The group noted that until the recent incidents, the first year of the Tinubu administration recorded “commendable reductions in security threats,” especially with a drop in banditry in the North West and sustained progress against insurgents in the North East.

TSG stated that President Tinubu’s decision to suspend his participation in the G20 Summit in South Africa and a scheduled official trip to Angola, in order to personally coordinate rescue and response operations, reflects a leader deeply committed to the welfare of Nigerians.“His decision to stay back and directly oversee the rescue efforts underscores his people-centered leadership philosophy. This level of empathy and determination deserves commendation,” Yakasai said. The group applauded the successful rescue of abducted students in Kebbi State and worshippers attacked in Kwara State, praising the synergy between the Federal Government, security agencies, state authorities, and citizens who provided intelligence.

According to the statement, such successes should motivate security agencies and other stakeholders to intensify efforts towards freeing remaining victims and forestalling future attacks.TSG emphasized that despite the recent setbacks, the Federal Government has sustained uninterrupted efforts against terrorists and bandits, reaffirming its commitment to national security and territorial integrity.“As a support group, we remain resolute in backing President Tinubu’s unwavering efforts to rework Nigeria’s governance architecture. We believe he has the capacity to steer the nation toward stability and sustained progress,” the statement added.Yakasai reiterated the group’s optimism that Nigeria will overcome the current security challenges, expressing confidence that “Nigeria will rise again.”
