“Tragedy Strikes as Bandits Attack Maulud Celebrants in Katsina, Leaving 20 Dead”

By Milcah Tanimu

In a horrifying incident, armed bandits carried out a ruthless attack on Muslim faithful celebrating Maulud in the Kusa community, located in the Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, resulting in the loss of at least 20 lives and the abduction of numerous individuals.

The assailants struck with brutality, descending upon the unsuspecting residents around 11:05 p.m., plunging the village into chaos and despair.

A member of the local vigilante group, who confirmed the vicious assault, described how the bandits encircled the venue of the Maulud celebration, opening fire on the participants, causing multiple injuries and forcefully taking several captives to an undisclosed location. By the time security forces responded to the distress call, the attackers had already vanished into their hideouts. Tragically, the aftermath of the attack revealed 20 lifeless bodies within the village.

The police spokesman in Katsina, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, verified the incident, stating, “Yes, there was an attack in Musawa LGA around 11 pm while people were having a Maulud procession. Bandits attacked, shot, and injured 18 people. They were subsequently evacuated to the hospital for treatment. Regrettably, two of the victims did not survive. Further investigations are underway to potentially apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.”
