Nigerian Army troops have successfully rescued three hostages and recovered weapons in thwarted kidnapping attempts in Katsina and Zamfara States.

According to a statement posted on the Army’s official X handle on Wednesday, the operations were based on intelligence reports and aimed at intercepting terrorist activities in the two states.

On October 21, 2024, troops responded to a road blockade by terrorists along the Jambako-Faru Road in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State. After a fierce gunfight, the terrorists fled, leaving behind an AK-47 rifle loaded with 7.62mm special ammunition.

In another operation at Gidan Isa village in Sokoto State’s Isa Local Government Area, troops engaged and overpowered terrorists attempting to cross the Marnona-Gudunmi-Isa Road. Following the clash, the troops recovered 297 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 23 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two AK-47 rifle magazines, a motorcycle, and a mobile phone.

In a separate incident in Katsina State, troops swiftly responded to an attack in Damari village, Dandume Local Government Area, where three women had been abducted. The troops successfully rescued the hostages and reunited them with their families.
