Controversial Nollywood actor Uche Maduagwu has apologised publicly to Nigerian music star Davido, admitting that he was paid to criticise and ridicule the singer, his wife and his family on social media.
Uche made the revelation during an appearance on Peks Ikeji TV, a video clip of which has since gone viral online. He disclosed that he received ₦2.5 million to carry out the online attacks, stressing that Davido never personally offended or wronged him.
According to the actor, the campaign was not carried out alone, as he claimed that about five influencers were allegedly paid to target the award-winning artiste.
“I want to use this opportunity to apologise to Davido. I was paid to ridicule you, your wife and your family on social media. I am not the only one; we were about five influencers. I sincerely apologise. Please forgive me. I collected ₦2.5 million to ridicule you,” he said.
Uche explained that his conscience would no longer allow him to remain silent, describing his actions as wrong, unnecessary and deeply regrettable.
The confession has generated mixed reactions on social media, with some users commending him for speaking out, while others expressed shock at the revelation.
His admission has once again reignited discussions about paid online trolling and bullying within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
