The Honorable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Sokoto State, Prof. A. L. Ala, hosted a delegation from the UNICEF Field Office today. The team, led by Education Specialist Mqaphelisi Sibanda, was joined by Francis Elisha and Rachel Maduga.
The meeting focused on strengthening education policies and enhancing learning outcomes in Sokoto State. Both parties discussed various challenges and opportunities within the education sector, with UNICEF reaffirming its continued support for the ministry’s initiatives. A statement by the Public Relations Officer, Nura Bello Maikwanci, highlighted the significance of the discussions.
Key officials from the Ministry were present at the meeting, including the Director of Administration, Abubakar Umar Salame; Director of Quality Assurance, Abdulkadir Alkammawa; Director of Basic Education, Abdulrahman Jafar; Director of Examinations, Abubakar Abdullahi; and Director of Private Schools, Amina Danjuma.
The visit underscored the ongoing collaboration between UNICEF and the Sokoto State Government, aimed at advancing quality education and providing better opportunities for children across the state.
