The FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike has on Tuesday disclosed that the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has approved the sum of N1.1 billion to compensate residents who are affected and displaced by the Kuje road construction.

Speaking to newsmen after his verification visit to the Kuje road construction site, Wike said that the estimated amount given to him by the administration was 1.1 billion Naira to pay those whose properties are affected in terms of buildings in the community.

” So it’s about 1.1 billion and we are going to make it available so that the contractor will not find any excuse for the delay,Wike affirmed.

He said, “I have come here to see for myself the report on the valuation of what we are supposed to pay. When I got the files for approval, I said,Look, it would be proper for me to see for myself the kind of structures that we are going to pay.”

“So, I am happy with what I have seen. I will immediately approve it so that they can start paying the compensation so that the work will not be delayed.”

The FCT Minister expressed satisfaction with the contractor’s performance and said that he believes that by next September the Court of Appeal quarters project will be delivered.

He said, “By the grace of God, we believe that in September next year, the contractor will have handed over the structure, which is the Abuja division of the Court of Appeal.”

Meanwhile , referring to the approval of salary increments for FCDA staffers, Wike noted that it is the Federal Government’s commitment under the Renewed Hope Agenda that worker’s wages should be increased.

Adding that the administration has adopted and approved it also approved for the payment of the arrears as agreed with the labor.

I expect that the workers will also see this as a boost and be more committed for us to achieve the development that is required in the city, Wike stated.
