The Nigerian Army has apprehended 25-year-old Shamsiyya Ahadu, who is suspected of being a weapons courier for criminal groups, including the notorious bandit leader Bello Turji. Ahadu was arrested by troops from Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West during Operation Fansan Yamma.
According to reports from Sahara Reporters on Sunday, Ahadu was detained on December 28 in the Badarawa area of Shinkafi Local Government Area, alongside her accomplice, a motorcyclist named Ahmed Husaini. The duo was caught by the forces while attempting to transport 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and six magazines, which were intended for delivery to Turji’s hideout.
In response to the operation, the troops quickly set up a roadblock, leading to the successful capture of the suspects. Both individuals are currently under investigation by the relevant authorities.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and preventing the illegal flow of arms and ammunition in the region. They also urged the public to continue providing credible information that could help apprehend wanted terrorists and their collaborators.
