Yoruba Group Lauds Gov Sanwo-Olu’s Giant Strides After 5 Years

Yoruba Radical Assembly has heaped commendations on the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for accelerating security, education, environment, Infrastructure, and transportation in the entire Lagos State since assuming office.

Coordinator of the Assembly, Adekunle Adeosun made the position of the Youth Organisation known during a press conference on Sunday to appraise Governor Sanwo-Olu’s performance after 5 years in office and counting.

“Having carefully assessed what Governor Sanwo-Olu met on the ground as against his achievement, we can boldly say his leadership has been nothing but a landmark ensuring that insecurity is nipped in the bud, the people are educated, the environment is habitable, and massive provision of infrastructure.

“We have a long list of Mr. Governor’s achievements that cut across all sectors in all the local councils in Lagos, especially Ikeja, the state’s capital.

“We particularly reckon with delight, the acquisition of 10-car intra-city metropolitan speed trains for the 37km Lagos Red Line project and the compensation of 263 residents affected by the Red Rail Line project’s right of way.

“Sanwo-Olu has been a transformative force, particularly through implementing the EKOEXCEL, a basic education reform programme that is revolutionizing basic education in Lagos.
“This reform has not only revolutionized public primary education in Lagos but has also garnered national and international acclaim, serving as a model for other states.

“To fully tackle the horrendous traffic congestion that had become a fixture in all the axial roads in the state, the Sanwo-Olu government inculcated transportation into its THEMES Agenda, adopting an inter-model system of transportation, comprising interconnectivity of road, water, and rail as its policy direction.
They calculate that the roads can only be free if other means of transportation like water and rail are developed side by side with land transportation.

’Mr. Governor in his quest to ensure effective and efficient management of traffic within the state, reduce road crashes, and enhance the free flow of traffic for its economic prosperity, graciously approved the recruitment of additional 1,000 LASTMA personnel, a development which has reduced traffic infractions by 60 per cent as well as enhanced recovery process by 87 per cent.

‘’Within the life of this administration, the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) now has an operational headquarters, the MVAA now has more one Stop centres across the state to make vehicle administration easily accessible to the general public, the Lagos State Parking Authority commenced operation and Lagos State Drivers Institute has significantly improved on driver’s education.’’ Adeosun said.

On addressing insecurity, he added: “Lagos is Nigeria’s most populous state, and the economic nerve centre has continued to be marked safe due largely to the state government’s proactive and prodigious investments in security architecture and gizmo, as well as her steadfast commitment to delivering a safer Lagos for the benefit of all.

“Nigeria’s worsening economic situation, with the pervasive hunger and hopelessness, plumbing many further down the poverty line, has now led to an upsurge in the incidence of kidnapping for ransom but this is not the case in Lagos”.
He called on Lagosians and Nigerians to continue supporting the Lagos state government to achieve more.
