Former deputy governor of Zamfara state Mallam Ibrahim Wakkala who served for eight years under the administration of the erstwhile governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has today renounced his membership of the All Peoples Congress (APC) and joins the Peoples Democratic ruling Party in the state.
Announcing this development to journalists in the state capital Gusau, Wakkala said he was aware of the two months long speculations on his plan to cross over to the PDP ruling party in the state.
He said he decides to put to rest the raging rumors by coming out and make public his final resolve to dump the APC in favor of the PDP.
Wakkala however explains that his resolve to change party ticket was strictly on personal conviction not party interest.
“My guiding principles and philosophies are focused on the development and socioeconomic progress of my state Zamfara” he said, stressing that he has closely been observing the administrative policies of the current governor Bello Matawalle which deeply appeals to him.
“Though I have been in APC since the beginning of his administration, the governor nevertheless, has been consulting me for advice” he said, “and this fraternal relation has actually endeared him to my liking”.
Mallam Wakkala further explains that by this development, he has already written a formal notice to his former boss Hon. Abdulaziz Yari and the APC as a party informing them of his decision to leave the party.
He said however that this development will not in anyway bear negative relations between himself and all his former leaders and all his political colleagues as a result of his defection.
