Zamfara mass abduction: First class Emir blames FG for security failure

By Abba Kabara, Gusau.

Zamfara first class emir of Anka, who doubles as chairman state council of chiefs, his royal highness Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad Anka has said that the recent mass abduction of female students in Jangebe Zamfara state, is a clear manifestation of national security failure.

The emir who made this comment when he led emirs from various emirates in the state on sympathy visit to governor Bello Matawalle today, stressed that the national security failure is not limited to only Zamfara, but is manifest across all sections of the country.

He noted that the tragedy that occurred in Zamfara female secondary school where over 300 female students were abducted in complete absence of the military and the police is an unfortunate scenario, particularly when the federal government keeps assuring the citizens of its commitment in protecting lives and properties of every Nigerian.

Alhaji Attahiru further stressed that the responsibility of securing lives and properties of Nigerians rest on the federal government, while states can only provide assistance when necessary, reasoning that “accusing fingers should be against the federal government rather than against the state government as far as this unfortunate incidence is concerned”, said the emir.

He, on behalf of all the monarch in the state, registers a deep sympathy to governor, the people of the state and particularly the parents and wards of abductees over the recent ugly incidence.

In his response, governor Matawalle, while thanking the monarchs for the visit, said he is aware that there are some enemies of Zamfara state “who do not wish us well, but certainly God will never give them the chance to achieve this ungodly mission”, he said.

He said his government will remain steadfast and resolute on its responsibility in maintaining a secured citizenry mindless of who ever is engineering and sponsoring the carnage.

Meanwhile, a government spokesman has refuted a story carried by a reputable national daily that the abducted female students of Jangebe secondary school were release.

The spokesman said however that government was doing every thing humanly possible to secure the immediate freedom for the captives.
