Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council.
The decision was conveyed in a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the Borno State Government, Bukar Tijani, and made available through the Governor’s media aide, Abdulrahman Bundi.
According to the statement, the dissolution is aimed at creating an enabling environment for members of the council who may wish to contest elective positions in the forthcoming general elections.
The governor directed all commissioners to hand over the affairs of their respective ministries to permanent secretaries on or before April 3, 2026.
Zulum expressed appreciation to the outgoing commissioners for their service, commending their dedication and contributions to the development of the state.
He noted that their efforts had played a significant role in advancing governance and service delivery to the people of Borno State.
The development comes amid early political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with stakeholders across the country beginning to position for various elective offices.
