Must read

The new President of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, Akparawa James Edet has expressed deep concern over the increasing incidence of vote buying.

He has therefore charged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and security agencies to come up with adequate measures to deal with the ugly trend in order to protect the sanctity of the ballot.

In a statement endorsed by his media assistance, Mr Idongesit Ikono and made available to newsmen in Uyo yesterday, Edet also called on ibibio people in the country to utilize the few remaining days to register or transfer their registration to their desired location.

The President, who was weekend elected the 11th international president of MMI said that as the 4th largest ethnic nationality in Nigeria, the Ibibios should register en masse to reflect their strength so that their voices would be heard in the 2023 general elections.

He commended Akwa Ibom State Government for its effort at mobilizing indigenes and residents of the state to participate in the Continuous Voters Registration exercise.

He also acknowledged the visible improvements in the country’s electoral process as evident in the recent off season elections in some states and commends INEC for restoring confidence in the system.

The National Productivity Order of Merit(NPOM) awardee charged the commission not to rest on its laurels but to explore more innovations to further improve the electoral process and boost public confidence.
