2023: Owodiong urges electorates to choose competence over pecuniary benefits.

As the race for 2023 Governorship election in Akwa Ibom state gathers momentum, Obong Ide Owodiong Idemeko a governorship hopeful on the platform of peoples democratic party (PDP) has made passionate appeal to the voters at all levels to shun immediate pecuniary gains and vote competent people into public office in 2023.

Owodiong who made the remarks when he officially consulted the Chapter Officers of PDP in Ibesikpo Asutan local council of the state yesterday emphasized that he would bring his wealth of experience in administration to turn around the fortunes of the state if elected.

His coming into the race according to him would be to make a difference in the style of governance by improving the quality of education, ensuring massive agricultural implementation/food sufficiency and real empowerment of citizens among other lofty goals.

The aspirant, who advocated for attitudinal change towards politics also urged voters to remain vigilant all through the electioneering process to ensure that their votes genuinely count to preserve our democracy.

“The people of Akwa ibom should shine their eyes now, we must get it right to enhance our development and progress, we must strive to protect our democracy by ensuring that our votes count and we must choose competent people at all levels of public office against those with immediate pecuniary benefits.” He said.

PDP chapter chairman in Ibesikpo Asutan Mr Uwem Etim who extolled the sterling qualities of the aspirant prayed God to see him through the primaries and the general election.

“The good Lord who has stated a good job in you will make it perfect, we will stand with you through the race to the end in appreciation of what you have done for us in this community and the state.” He further emphasized.

Several speakers at the event, mostly beneficiaries of Idemeko’s benevolence took turns to explain how he put them through the tedious journey of life to make them breadwinners in their various families, calling on the people to support his aspiration to give him a better platform to do more.

Highpoints of the event which attracted thousands of supporters from the area was a prayers session conducted for the success of the spirant and presentation of gift items to the party officers.
