2023 Polls: Stakeholders, Party Aspirants Signs Peace Accord To Cub Violence At Egume In Kogi

Stakeholders and Aspirants of political parties in Egume, Dekina local government area on Wednesday signed Peace Accord towards a sustainable peaceful election in the community.

The national president of Egume Ome Descendants’ Union, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim who was the convener of the peace Accord meeting held at the Police hall Egume, stressed the need for Supporters of political parties in the community to remain United before and after the election.

He pointed out that Egume has been a peace loving community in Dekina local government and should not deviate in sustaining the good name because of the preventable election violence.

The Flag bearers of All Progressives’ Congress (APC) Hon. Enema Paul and his opponent, Hon Godwin Meliga of PDP vying for Okura constituency, state house of Assembly, said election is not a do or die affairs.

They attributed major causes of violence to rumours and fake news in the social media and appealed to their supporters to unite against any outside forces that could disrupt the Egume election and even tarnish the name of their community.

The Divisional Police Officer, in Egume, SP Eiya Clement and the representative of the Civil Defence Corp, Azodo Christian warned perpetrators of crises to stay clear of trouble during the forthcoming general election as the security agents will not spare any culprit.

They commended the national body of the community union for its proactive measures towards a peaceful general election in the community.
