2023 Zenith Bank Headmasters’ Cup Competition: Delta announces Friday May 19 for finals

Delta State Government has announced that the final of the 2023 second edition of the Zenith Bank sponsored Delta Headmasters Cup Football Competition would hold on Friday, May 19.

The State Commissioner for Primary Education, Chief Sunday Onoriode, who stated this in Asaba said that the date for the final remained sacrosanct.

He said that preparation had been concluded for a smooth final scheduled to take place at Stephen Keshi stadium Asaba at 11am.

He said that the third place match would be played the same day before the final match would commence.

Onoriode , who commended Zenith Bank PLC for sponsoring the competition, stressed that school sports competition was a veritable platform to discover young lad who would not only make the state proud but the nation at large.

He congratulated Owa Model Primary School, Boji-Boji Owa in Ika North East for booking a place in the semi final after defeating their opponent, Ogoma Primary School, Ogwuashi-Uku in the quarter final match that was played at Agbor stadium and Ogidi primary school, Agoloma in Patani Local Government Area for a place in the semi final after their 3-0 victory over Omenta primary school, Ughoton in Okpe Local Government Area.

Onoriode also hailed other semi finalists: Ogedegbe Primary School, Warri in Warri South and Destiny primary school, Ughelli in Ughelli North for their success, describing their victories as unprecedented.

While the semi final match between Owa Model Primary School, Boji-Boji Owa against Destiny Primary School, Ughelli in Ughelli North would be played at Kwale stadium, that of the semi final match between Ogidi primary school, Patani and Ogedegbe Primary School, Warri , Warri South would be decided in Ughelli stadium. Both matches would be played simultaneously at 9am today, May 18.

He enjoined other schools that could not advance to the semi final stage to see it as one of those things and embrace defeat with the spirit of sportsmanship, urging them to do well in future competitions.
